Measuring the Light-curve of an Eclipsing Binary System

Stephen Riley

Obtaining the “light-curve” of an eclipsing binary star system – two stars orbiting each other, with the plane of the orbit aligned with Earth so that we see one star eclipsing the other, then vice versa is rare, but possible.

Determining the "Light-curves" and Periods of Variable Stars

Dr. P. Moreland

The apparent brightness of some stars has been observed to change with time. And of these "variable stars", some go from dim to bright to dim in a very regular or "periodic", way. These projects explore the properties of periodic variable stars.
