The Mission of the John J. McCarthy Observatory is to further science literacy, both for students and adults of the Western Connecticut region. With the great appeal of Astronomy, it is a natural tool for creating scientific curiosity and reinforcing interest and skills in science.

Outdoor Astronomy at JJMO

The observatory has an outdoor Sky Deck with 4 piers for telescopes.  Three telescopes are usually used at our monthly Second Saturday Stars.  In addition, we have a beautiful, antique telescope known as the Dancer Telescopes.  Click the links below to see these features.
